Olga Stepanova, Piano
Olga Stepanova is a member of the piano faculty of the Music School of Westchester and music director and organist of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Haworth. In Russia she received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees (Honors diplomas) and completed her Doctorate at Alma-Ata Conservatory in 1975. Ms. Stepanova has performed as a soloist with the Kazakhstan Symphony Orchestra. She has played numerous solo and chamber recitals throughout the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, New York and New Jersey.
Matitiahu Braun, Violin
Matitiahu Braun graduated from the Israel Academy of Music and the Juilliard School, where he was a student of Joseph Fuchs and a recipient of the Naumburg Prize. He has been a member of the New York Philharmonic since 1969 and served also as principal violist of the Dallas Symphony. Always active on the local and international music scenes, Mr. Braun has performed throughout the world as soloist with orchestras and in recitals and chamber music concerts. His talents as a teacher have also been recognized, with master classes recently presented in Israel, Finland, Japan, New York and Texas.
Elizabeth Kalfayan, Violoncello
Elizabeth Kalfayan, violoncellist, performs as a soloist and principal cellist with numerous symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles throughout the metropolitan area. Born in Romania, she holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Jacob Bernstein. She also studied with Martha Williams, Arthur Balsam and Rachmael Weinstock. Ms. Kalfayan has performed with the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea, The Baroque Music Ensemble, the Metropolitan Lyric Opera, The New Jersey Pops Orchestra, the Opera at Florham, the State Repertory Opera Company and as a soloist with the Hawthorne Chamber Orchestra. She has also appeared with k.d. lang, Ray Charles, Anne Murray, Smokey Robinson, The Doors, and The Neo-Bass Ensemble with jazz artist Lisle Atkinson. Ms. Kalfayan is co-founder of the Encore String Quartet, Melody Arts Trio, the Harmonia Chamber Players, and founder of the Encore Piano Trio and the Merritt Chamber Music Workshops. As an educator, she was Director of Strings for the River Dell, New Jersey School District, and has facilitated music workshops at the Puffin Foundation and the New Jersey Youth Symphony.
